Subhash Ghai meets Raj, invites him to Whistling Woods

Mumbai: Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who lost a case against his film institute Whistling Woods International in both the Mumbai High Court and the Supreme Court, today met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and invited him to visit the institute’s campus. AFP Photo”]  [/caption] Ghai, who visited Raj’s residence in Dadar, said he invited the MNS chief to visit the campus in the Film City. “I am meeting many other leaders too… Raj expressed his sympathy for Whistling Woods. He promised that he will visit…we have also invited Chief Minis ter Prithviraj Chavan, who has never seen the campus,” he said. Upholding the Bombay High Court order quashing the 20 acre land allotted to his film institute in the Film City, the Supreme Court on 4 April had asked Ghai to return the 20 acre land to the state and also rapped former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, saying he could not have treated anyone as “blue-eyed boy”. Earlier, the High Court had said Deshmukh had “abused” his powers while allotting the land for a “paltry sum of money”. The high court’s order had come on a PIL by Rajendra Sontakke and four other agriculturists from Latur and Osmanabad districts alleging “gross abuse of power” by Deshmukh in allotting the land. “I want to clarify the wrong perceptions of political leaders that there was some scam between us and Vilasrao, which is not true,” Ghai said.
