SpiceJet to add Hong Kong, Dhaka as new destinations from March

New Delhi: No-frill airline SpiceJet today announced changes in its international route network, adding Hong Kong and Dhaka as new destinations from March-end and discontinuing Delhi-Guangzhou flight, even as it planned to strengthen its tie-up with TigerAir of Singapore.

The airline, which filed its summer 2014 schedule to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for approval, has proposed to discontinue its Pune-Bangkok, Varanasi-Sharjah and Delhi-Guangzhou flights. The summer schedule becomes effective from the last Sunday of March.[caption id=“attachment_1344133” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![SpiceJet aircraft. While Sharjah will continue to be served from Pune and Lucknow, and Bangkok from Bangalore, Guangzhou will be served from Kolkata, along with Hong Kong, an airline spokesperson said, adding that Hong Kong and Dhaka would be the new destinations to be served by it in the summer schedule.

In the domestic sector, the stations to be removed from its network include Puducherry, Trichy and Allahabad.

“Additionally, SpiceJet also announced plans to build on the interline alliance with TigerAir (Singaporean budget carrier) by adding new cities to the existing footprint,” the spokesperson said, but did not elaborate.

The revised schedule would fully deploy SpiceJet’s fleet of 42 Boeing 737 and 15 78-seater Bombardier Q400 aircraft, the spokesperson said.

The low-cost carrier also said it would soon launch several new and enhanced products and services, including a cabin refresh programme and rolling out several enhancements to its inflight products like an entirely new menu and service delivery model.
