Madrid: Spain’s foreign ministry says it has closed its embassy in Syria to protest brutalities carried out by President Bashar Assad’s government. A foreign ministry statement late Tuesday said the decision followed consultation with fellow European Union members. The ministry said it will keep two diplomats in the European Union delegation in Damascus to handle its interests.
