Mumbai: Fresh buying in select counters, mainly realty, consumer durables, capital goods and power, helped the BSE benchmark Sensex recover from early losses to trade nearly 21 points higher vis-a-vis its previous close in early trade today. The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange index resumed higher at 16,155.99 and hovered in a range between 16,237.41 and 16,057.53 before quoting at 16,162.57 at 1015 hours, translating into a net gain of 20.90 points, or 0.13 percent, vis-a-vis last weekend’s close. However, the NSE’s 50-share Nifty was down  17.45 points, or 0.36 per cent, at 4,828.20 at 1015 hours. The major gainers from the Sensex pack were Jaiprakash Associates (3.19 percent), Jindal Steel (2.05 per cent), BHEL(1.70 percent), Bharti airtel (1.15 per cent) and HDFC (0.85percent). Major Asian stock markets lost at least 1 percent last week as investors fretted about global growth prospects and awaited further developments in the eurozone debt crisis. PTI
