Mumbai: Reliance Communications today launched a bundled company-branded and Android-based tablet with video calling facility at Rs 12,999, almost 40 percent lower than any similar gadget available in the market now. [caption id=“attachment_57689” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Representational image. It also comes with exclusive bundled data service plans and discounts of up to 50 percent. The service will be available in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, to begin with, the company said. “RCom has always been a pioneer in taking bold steps to innovate and re-invent the telecom ecosystem in the country, and has always believed in bringing products to customers that fulfill their needs and desires with incredible affordability. The launch of 3G Tab is in line with this principle,” company president Mahesh Prasad said. The tablet, custom-manufactured for RCom by ZTE of China, will have 512 mb of random access memory equaling the latest iPad2, but falling behind truly high-end tablets like the Motorola Xoom or the Samsung Galaxy Tab, both of which have 1 GB of RAM. It will have a two megapixel rear camera and a front camera, for video calling. The Reliance 3G Tab also has built-in GPS and a card reader with support for up to 32 GB of micro-SD card storage. The tablet is not too heavy nor too light, at 389 gm. In comparison, the similarly placed Samsung Galaxy 7-inch is 380 gm in weight, while the iPad is around 607 gm. Aimed at all age groups, the light weight 389 gm RCom 3G Tab with a two megapixel rear camera and a front camera will be supported by Reliance’’s 3G network across 333 towns in 13 3G circles, the company said.
