Guwahati: A day after 15 people were injured in a grenade blast in the heart of the city, several district administrations clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC with immediate effect. Kamrup (Metro) district administration, under which Guwahati city falls, has promulgated Section 144 CrPC for safety, security and maintenance of public peace and tranquility ahead of Independence Day.[caption id=“attachment_994929” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Assam Police personnel at the blast site in Guwahati on Sunday. There are few exceptions like persons above the age of 60, ailing persons travelling to and fro from any hospital, personnel of police and armed forces in uniform, physically handicapped and school children in uniform. Likewise, Barpeta district administration has also declared prohibitory orders. The order, which is enforced with immediate effect, will continue till 20 August, Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Siddhartha Singh said. “We have taken this precautionary measure for the coming Independence Day so as to prevent any untoward incident,” he added. The order was also imposed in Dhansiri sub-division of Golaghat district during the day. Earlier, prohibitory orders were declared in Cachar district by the administration. The Bongaigaon district authority also prohibited general movement of the public under the Section 144 of the CrPC. Last week, prohibitory orders was promulgated in Kamrup district with immediate effect. PTI
