Rampur, Uttar Pradesh: To ensure free and fair elections in Uttar Pradesh, BJP today said that Election Commission should ensure that all top state officials working as “agents” of the ruling BSP are shifted out. “Remove some top civil and police officials who have been working as agents of ruling BSP for last over four years to ensure fair and free elections,” BJP’s national vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here. This must be done after sincere consultations with opposition parties, Naqvi said. Naqvi, talking to PTI, said that BJP considers corruption and crime as the main issue which have squandered the maximum funds allotted for development of the UP. This has been proved by the role of ministers and legislators of the ruling outfit who were punished after Lokayukta’s verdicts, Naqvi said. The BJP leader alleged that BSP, Congress and Samajwadi Party “deliberately and cunningly” wanted to divert the attention of electorate from the core problems. This step, Naqvi said, has been raised by Congress keeping in view the elections in five states or even for Lok Sabha much before its term expires. The hypocritical champions of minoritism are busy giving shape to their “nefarious” designs of exploiting Muslim votes for petty political gains, the BJP leader said. “If minoritism of Congress and other so called secular outfits continued unhindered, the spirit of national unity advocated by the great martyrs like Ashfaqullah and Ramprasad Bismil would deteriorate miserably resulting in state of chaos,” said Naqvi. He advised electorate to court-martial the Congress and other political outfits who have been committing the monstrous sin of adopting the “divide and rule policy initiated by British.” PTI
