Though the situation was brought under control, tension prevailed in the area, they said. Last Thursday investors in a private chit fund company, Sun City Infracon Corporation Ltd in Rangia, handed over to police its general manager and two field workers allegedly for not making payment of their investment maturity amounts totalling nearly Rs 3 crore, the sources said. One of the two field workers on falling ill on Saturday was admitted to Rangia Civil Hospital from where he was shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital after he went into a coma and died today. Angered by his death, the people of his village attacked the police station today, police said, adding, ten people were detained in connection with today’s incident. PTI
