 Police arrest two Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Two Maoists, allegedly involved in attacks on police patrols, were today arrested during a search operation in the forests of Maoist-hit Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. The Maoist cadres were nabbed by a joint contingent of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and the local police from the forests of Kosalnar village under the Jhara police station limits, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) NK Sahu said. Maoists_AFP380 Those arrested were identified as Manish Salaam and Lehru Salaam, both aged 22 years, who were active in the Kosalnar area since a couple of years, he said. The patrol was on a combing operation since Monday morning in Jhara region, which lies at around 300 km from the Chhattisgarh capital of Raipur. On being tipped-off about Maoist presence there, the patrol nabbed the duo, who were allegedly involved in attacks on police patrols, the DSP said. They were produced in a local court which sent them to jail, he said. PTI
