Panaji: The BJP-led alliance, which today staked claim to form government in Goa, has requested the Goa Governor to pursue the Goa Lokayukta Bill which is awaiting Presidential assent. BJP leader Manohar Parrikar told reporters outside the Raj Bhavan here that Lokayukta Bill was forwarded to central government by Governor on 23 January. [/caption] “We have requested the Governor to follow up the Bill. Unless the Bill is notified, I can’t take the next step,” said Parrikar, who had promised to put Lokayukta in place within 100 days of coming to power. He also said that the issues such as illegal mining and scam in allotment of land for special economic zones would be handed over to Lokayukta. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad had been assigned the responsibility of following up the progress of the bill in New Delhi, he said. PTI
