Pak cricketer Mohd Asif robbed at gun point in Lahore

Disgraced Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif was today robbed of his belongings at gunpoint in his hometown Lahore. Asif, who has faced a tale of woes since 2010 when he and teammates Mohammad Aamir and Salman Butt were found guilty of spot-fixing in England, was robbed by four armed men near the Lahore airport as he returned early morning after dropping a friend. “They took away around 92,000 rupees in cash, my wallet which had bank cards, my passport and expensive watch,” Asif told reporters. AFP[/caption] “It was a scary incident for me although I have been through a lot in the last two years and even spent some time in jail,” Asif said. The pacer, who is serving a five year ban for spot-fixing, said he was in his car when four men on motorcycles forced him to stop and pointed guns at his face: “They were armed and I had no option but to quietly give what they wanted. The incident unnerved me but later I reported the matter to the police station of the area,” he said. Street crimes are common in Pakistan’s biggest city, Karachi but are witnessed on a lesser scale in Lahore. Asif, who has also served a few months in jail in the United Kingdom for spot-fixing last year, was also banned by the ICC’s Anti-Corruption tribunal in Feb, 2011 for his role in the scandal that broke out during Pakistan’s tour to England in 2010.
