Olympian shuttler V Diju gets married

Kozhikode: Olympian shuttler V Diju yesterday got married to Dr Soumya in the presence of family members and a large number of his admirers, near here yesterday. Diju hails from Ramanattukara in Kozhikode district, while Soumya is from nearby Vadakara. Diju’s partner in mixed doubles Jwala Gutta had specially flown in to Vadakara yesterday to participate in the marriage. PTI[/caption] Jwala, who had partnered with Diju in various tournaments earlier, had paired with him at the recent London Olympics. They became the first Indian doubles pair to reach the quarterfinal of the World Championship in 2009 in Hyderabad. Prominent sports personalities who graced the occasion included former sprint queen PT Usha and several badminton players from Kerala and officials. Later, a reception was held at a hotel in Kozhikode. PTI
