Nod for Adani Ports dry bulk terminal at Kandla

 Nod for Adani Ports dry bulk terminal at Kandla

Mumbai: The Adani Group today said that it has got the nod to build a dry bulk terminal at the Kandla port, the country’s largest port by volumes.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), the port operating arm of the group, has received a letter of intent from the Kandla Port Trust to set up the terminal having a capacity of 20 million tonnes on build, operate and transfer basis after the company emerged as the highest bidder on a revenue share basis, a statement released in Mumbai said.[caption id=“attachment_226838” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Building up new infrastructure. The terminal will come up at Tekra near Tuna outside the Kandla Creek and the company would invest Rs 1,200 crore in it. The construction work will commence after signing of the concession agreement with Kandla Port Trust and the facility is expected to be commissioned by 2014, it added.

“The strategic location of Kandla Port will be an important factor in attracting cargo from the north-west hinterland and assist Adani Ports to register cargo handling volumes of 200 million tonnes by 2020,” APSEZ wholetime director Rajeev Sinha was quoted as saying in the statement.
