Kolhapur: Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that there is no link between the proposed nuclear power plant in Jaitapur and the current power crisis in the state. “It would take ten years to raise Jaitapur power project and there is no link between the proposed project and the current load shedding in the state,” Chavan said here. His comments come in the backdrop of Shiv Sena executive President Uddhav Thackeray, who last week dubbed the power outages as a “political move” by the Congress-NCP alliance government to impose Jaitapur nuclear power project in Maharashtra. Even the governments there are supporting the people who are opposing the project,” Uddhav had said. Chavan also said, “We are also going to enquire about coal shortage situation.” Replying to a query about the Shetakari Sangathana demanding more price for sugarcane, Chavan said, “This issue will be settled through talks.” Chavan visited Shirol and Kagal tehsil in the district on 21 October, where he attended a Bhoomipujan ceremony of the Central Administrative Building. In Hamidwada in Kagal tehsil, MP Sadashivrao Mandalik joined the Congress with his followers. Chavan was present along with other state ministers on the occasion. PTI
