Nissan to hike Micra, Sunny prices

New Delhi: Automobile manufacturer Nissan Motor India today said it will hike the prices of its models Micra and Sunny between 0.56 percent to 2.09 percent from Friday to offset the impact of rising input cost and rupee depreciation.

According to the company, prices of all three variants of petrol version of Micra will go up by Rs 3,000 while prices of the diesel version will go up by Rs 12,000.[caption id=“attachment_187960” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Getting costlier. Also, prices of all three variants of petrol version of Sunny, which was launched in the Indian market in September 2011, will be increased by Rs 5,000, the company said in a statement.

The Sunny petrol versions are currently available between Rs 5.78 lakh and Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The price of recently launched diesel version of Sunny will remain unchanged, it added. It is priced between Rs 7.98 lakh and Rs 8.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Sunny diesel was launched earlier this month in the market, after dealerships started accepting bookings from the second week of December 2011.

Commenting on the development Nissan Motor India managing director Kiminobu Tokuyama said, “The rising input costs and depreciating rupee have left us with no option but to revisit the prices of our models in order to maintain our business momentum.”

Sunny Petrol was launched in India in September 2011. Micra was launched in India in July 2010 and, so far, over 25,000 Micra’s have been sold in India.

On Tuesday auto majors Maruti Suzuki and General Motors India have increased the prices of various models by up to Rs 17,000 to offset rising input costs and the impact of currency fluctuation.
