Additional Sessions judge MW Chandwani after passing the judgement stated that Grover’s father Amarnath may claim the remains of Neeraj consisting 10 pieces of rib bones, femur bone, skull and tooth. “(The remains) may be given to the complainant, Amarnath Grover for last rites of his son, if he desires, otherwise, they be destroyed after the appeal period is over,” the judge observed. The sessions court convicted actress Maria Susairaj for destruction of evidence and her fiance Emile Jerome for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destruction of evidence. Maria was sent to three years imprisonment but later walked out of jail as she had spent three years’ time as an under trial, while Jerome was imprisoned for 10 years. Actress Susairaj and Jerome were facing trial for the murder of Grover who was stabbed to death at Susairaj’s Malad house on May 7, 2008. She and Jerome allegedly disposed the body in the jungles of Manor. Jerome had on the day of the murder flown from Kochi, where he was posted. While police arrested Susairaj in Mumbai, Crime Branch officers flew to Kochi and took Jerome in their custody the same day and he was formally arrested the next day. PTI
