Raipur: Chhattisgarh will invest Rs 50 crore in the Maoist-hit Dantewada district to improve infrastructure of the region, an official said on Monday.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, who is celebrating his 60th birthday Monday, will visit Dantewada Tuesday to lay foundation stones for a series of development works worth Rs 50 crore, the official said.
Raman Singh will offer prayers at the historic Maa Danteshwari temple in Dantewada town, headquarters of the district, on the occasion of the beginning of ‘Shardiya Navratri’ on 16 October.
The mineral-rich and tribal dominated Dantewada is tagged as the hotbed of the Maoist activity since the late 1980s and the district has witnessed a string of deadly attacks since 2005, including the massacre of 76 policemen in a single attack in April 2010.
