New Delhi: Giving mixed signals, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today met leaders of both allies and rival parties in the city. She is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tomorrow. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, BJP leader Ravi Shanker Prasad and CPI leader D Raja among the personalities who met the AIADMK supremo during her first visit here after last month’s elections. But Gandhi is said to be away from the capital and a meeting between the two is unlikely now. While Sheila Dikshit declined to comment on the meeting, Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was accompanied by his wife, described it as a courtesy call. Jayalalithaa is expected to take up issues concerning her state including power crisis and problems faced by Indian fishermen, when she meets the PM tomorrow. The emotive Sri Lankan Tamils issue is also on the cards, with the state Assembly passing a unanimous resolution seeking that New Delhi and other countries impose economic sanctions to ‘rein in’ Colombo on this matter. National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon had called on Jayalalithaa recently, when she had urged him to take up with Sri Lanka during his visit issues of rehabilitation of Tamils and their dignified living and equal rights.
