It's sad people don't buy music from stores anymore: Sophie

Mumbai: Sophie Choudry, who made a name in the pop music genre in the early 2000s, misses the days when people would buy records from stores. “I feel sad that now people don’t buy albums from the shops. I think we all miss that. Wherever you will go in the whole world, people are not there in the record stores, either they download online freely or buy (online),” the 31-year-old said on Monday in an interview. So, there is good and bad! But definitely, I miss the days of making proper studio albums,” she said. Sophie has recently launched her new music album, in which she has remixed the popular song “Hungama ho gaya”, originally sung by Asha Bhosle in 1975. Besides music, Sophie has also featured in a few films like Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Shaadi No 1, Speed and Chintuji. Sophie, who was also a popular video jockey (VJ) earlier, says she wants to act in more movies. “In acting, I would like to do a lot more. I took a break in the middle because the kind of roles offered to me were not interesting and may be the directors felt that Sophie is so involved with her singing and shows that may be she doesn’t want to do films. That’s not the case. I just wanted to do the roles that I found interesting,” Sophie said. Sophie started off as a pop singer in 2000 with her all-girl band “Sansara” and later became a VJ while continuing with her singing, besides small acting assignments. IANS
