India has provided assistance of Rs 216 million to the Nepal government for constructing embankments at various rivers in southern Nepal. The Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, handed over a cheque of Rs 216.10 million to Minister for Irrigation Mahendra Prasad Yadav at a programme today. Reuters”] [/caption] The grant will be utilised for construction of embankments along Lalbakeya, Bagmati and Kamla rivers in southern Nepal which is being undertaken in accordance with the decisions made by the India-Nepal Joint Committee on Inundation and Flood Management (JCIFM). India has been providing assistance to Nepal for strengthening and extension of embankments along Lalbakeya, Bagmati and Kamla rivers. With the present assistance, the total grant assistance already disbursed for embankment construction along these rivers, stands at Rs 1,480.68 million. PTI
