IAF airlifts crashed Pawan Hans chopper in Uttarakhand

New Delhi: As part of relief operations in Uttarakhand, an IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter today airlifted from Harsil to Dehradun a Pawan Hans chopper which had crashed in June.[caption id=“attachment_1085289” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] As part of the ongoing ‘Op-Rahat’ the IAF airlifted a Pawan Hans helicopter out of Harshil today by a Mi-17 V5 on Wednesday. The Pawan Hans helicopter had crashed on Harsil helipad on 28 June and was under-slung and airlifted to Dehradun in delicately handled operation by a Mi-17 V5 helicopter,” an IAF statement said in New Delhi. The helicopter had crash-landed at Harsil and was damaged in the process soon after the death of 20 personnel in a mishap involving a Mi-17 V5. But all onboard were safe. On 21 June, a private helicopter that was being used for rescue operations had also crashed. The pilot, though, was rescued. PTI
