HCL Tech Q4 profit rises 62 percent

New Delhi: IT services giant HCL Technologies today posted a 62.1 percent jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 385.6 crore for the fourth quarter ended 30 June, 2011 against Rs 237.8 crore in the year-ago period. Its total income rose to Rs 1,949.4 crore during the reported period from Rs 1,330.6 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, up 46.5 percent on standalone basis. “In these times of dynamic demand and swiftly changing customer priorities, HCL is focusing on building an innovation engine that is agile, business-aligned and employee driven,” HCL Technologies Vice Chairman and CEO Vineet Nayar said in a statement.

For the year ended June 30, 2011, the company reported a 30.8 percent jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,646.5 crore against Rs 1,259.2 crore last year. The total income of the IT firm increased to Rs 15,730.4 crore for the year ended June 30, 2011, against Rs 12,136.3 crore in FY'10 on consolidated basis. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $116.3 million as on 30 June, 2011. The board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 2 per equity share, taking the total dividend for the year to Rs 7.5 per share. During the quarter, HCL Tech added 9,572 people (gross) and 3,626 employees (net), taking the total headcount to 77,046. HCL Tech signed 20 transformational deals this quarter in industries like manufacturing, media and publishing, telecom, BFSI, retail, hi-tech and healthcare. Shares of the company were trading at Rs 517.70 a piece at 0930 hours, up 0.56 percent from its previous close on BSE. PTI
