Moscow: Russian club Anzhi Makhackala says it has signed Guus Hiddink to an 18-month contract. The club did not release financial terms in a statement on Friday. Anzhi is owned by Suleiman Kerimov, a Kremlin-connected billionaire from Dagestan, the Caspian province in southern Russia where the club is based. It signed striker Samuel Eto’o from Inter Milan this past offseason. Hiddink has coached numerous clubs and national sides, including Russia from 2006-09, guiding it to the Euro 2008 semifinals. The Dutchman’s fifth and most recent national side was Turkey, which released him last November when it failed to qualify for Euro 2012. AP
