Ex-DMK minister's house searched by anti-graft officials

Chennai: The houses of former Tamil Nadu minister I Periyasamy and his family members were searched by anti-corruption wing officials on Friday in connection with a disproportionate assets case against him, the probe agency said. DMK leader and former revenue minister Periyasamy’s house in Dindigul, around 400 km from here, was raided by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials on information that he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

[caption id=“attachment_313432” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Reuters”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/rupee332.jpg "rupee33") [/caption] In a statement issued here, the DVAC said a case was registered in March against Periyasamy on the allegation that he has accumulated movable and immovable assets in his name and in the name of his family members, disproportionate to the tune of Rs 1.19 crore to his known sources of income during the period from 13 May, 2006 to 31 March, 2010, while he was the state revenue minister. As part of the investigation, searches were conducted at Periyasamy’s residence, it said. Searches were also conducted at the houses of his son IP Senthilkumar and daughter Indira, besides the latter’s office at Gain Up Industries – all located in Dindigul. IANS
