Enough of infighting, we need to stand united against Pakistan: Swaraj

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Thursday took on the Union government over Wednesday’s terror attack at a CRPF camp in Bemina, Srinagar and said that Parliament should stand united and challenge Pakistan. “Let us stand together and challenge Pakistan rather than challenging each other. A united voice should come from the Parliament challenging terrorism,” she said. [caption id=“attachment_661104” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj. PTI[/caption] “Let us not waste our energy in challenging each other.” Raising the issue in Lok Sabha on Thursday, Sushma said, “It is sad that on a terror attack that the Parliament should seriously discuss, the members are challenging each other.” Swaraj asked Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde if indeed the government had any information then why did the government not do anything to save the lives of the CRPF personnel. Meanwhile, making a statement in Lok Sabha on the terror attack, Shinde said the two unidentified terrorists took advantage of a small gap in the fencing at the police public school in Bemina area to enter the compound, mingle with the youth there and open fire. Apart from the five CRPF troopers killed, six others sustained injuries – one of them was in critical condition. Four civilians were also injured in the attack. Shinde said about 50 CRPF personnel of the 73 Battalion were present at the school for further deployment when the incident occurred. He said two AK rifles, five magazines, two pistols and four grenades were among the recoveries made from the slain terrorists. An ointment tube recovered from the slain militants was found to have been manufactured in Karachi, while diaries with phone numbers had also been found. “It is suspected to be of Pakistani origin,” he said, adding that the attackers were fidayeen “suspected to be of foreign origin”. The home minister said responsibility for the attack had been taken by an agent of Hizbul Mujahideen but the authenticity of the claim was yet to be ascertained. With IANS inputs
