New Delhi: BJP today demanded strong action against the police personnel responsible for the death of an old man, who had reportedly objected to their dragging and beating of his son in the capital. “The insensitiveness of Delhi Police was on display when a father questioned them for dragging his son. The 66-year-old was treated in a manner which caused his death. We condemn the incident,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said. Women and girls are not safe in their vehicles and homes,” he said. The man died late Tuesday night after he was allegedly shoved by a constable who was engaged in a heated argument with his son in south Delhi. Constable Vikram Singh has been suspended, an inquiry is pending, Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta said today. Javadekar also mentioned the Noida case where the cops had revealed the name of a rape victim last week. “Both these incidents are sad. There is a need for police reforms and for bringing about a change. We will raise these issues in the forthcoming session of Parliament,” he said. BJP demanded an inquiry into the death of the old man and pressing of charges of abetment of murder against the policemen. Those guilty should be dismissed from service, it demanded. PTI
