The Election Commission (EC) will look into the letter sent by the BSP stating that there was anger among Dalits over its decision to cover statues of Chief Minister Mayawati and those of elephants, BSP’s election symbol.

[caption id=“attachment_181703” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“The Election Commission (EC) will look into the letter sent by the BSP stating that there was anger among Dalits over its decision to cover statues of the Chief Minister. PTI”] [/caption] Lucknow: The Election Commission (EC) will look into the letter sent by the BSP stating that there was anger among Dalits over its decision to cover statues of Chief Minister Mayawati and those of elephants, BSP’s election symbol. “As of now, there is no information about the Commission receiving the letter sent by the BSP but once it is received the EC would look into it and take whatever action required,” Additional Chief Electoral Officer Anita Meshram told newspersons here. Meshram said she too has come to know about the letter from the newspapers and added that it would be looked into. She was responding to queries when her attention was drawn to the BSP national general secretary S C Misra stating that Commission’s “unjustified and one-sided” decision has demoralised the party and left Dalits and backwards “cheated”.
