Djokovic receives ATP World Tour No.1 award

Novak Djokovic was presented with his ATP World Tour No.1 trophy as well as the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award at the World Tour finals in London. The Serb will end the year in the top spot for the second-consecutive season after top-ranked Roger Federer pulled out of the Paris Masters. “It is an incredibly satisfying feeling to win the ATP World Tour No.1 trophy for a second time,” Djokovic was quoted as saying by the ATP website Tuesday. The award was presented “for his contributions through the Novak Djokovic Foundation, his role as a Unicef ambassador and other individual ventures.” Djokovic, 25, first clinched the No.1 ranking in July 2011 after beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-final of Wimbledon, the tournament he proceeded to win for the first time by beating Nadal in the final. Highlights this year include the Australian Open title, reaching the French Open final, where he lost to Nadal, and the US Open final, won by Andy Murray. Djokovic lost to Federer in the Wimbledon semi-final. IANS
