Mumbai: The country’s premier bourse BSE’s derivatives trading volume crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark today. Total volume of derivatives trading touched Rs 1,054.45 crore with participation of 107 broker members, BSE said in a release here.
Of the total derivative volume, the index futures registered a turnover of Rs 936.13 crore with 35,520 contracts. While index option (call) witnessed a volume of Rs 35.42 crore with 1,337 contracts, index option (put) registered a volume of Rs 1.12 crore with 42 contracts.

Similarly, volume under equity future has touched Rs 72.72 crore with total number of contracts at 1,882 on the BSE. While equity option (call) has registered a volume of Rs 9.02 crore with 207 contracts. There was no turnover in equity option (put), the release said.
Major share of derivative trading comprising of index and equity is cornered by the National Stock Exchange as of now and the 30-share index based BSE is trying hard to break its monopoly by attracting more derivative volume into the exchange.
