Bangalore: Refuting allegations by ruling BJP that he had denotified land to favour individuals when he was Karnataka Chief Minister during 1999-2004, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said he denotified as per law. Krishna’s reaction comes in the backdrop of state BJP leaders allegations that during his tenure, 633 acres of land was denotified. “I had denotified lands as per law. BJP’s allegations against me are cheap. They can scrutinise documents available in Vidhana Soudha,” he told. Krishna said though he did not want to comment on state politics, he was avidly watching the developments including corruption charges against Karnataka ministers and former Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa. “Cases are not filed without any reason,” he said. He had stated earlier that when he was the Chief Minister from October 1999 to June 2004, a total of 2,203.30 acres of land acquired by the government was denotified in favour of various departments, including for the Outer Ring Road project and Karnataka Industrial Area Development. Krishna said the UPA has not accorded step-motherly treatment to any non-Congress ruling states. “UPA is functioning impartially and unnecessarily blaming it for every failure of the state government is not correct,” he said.
