Spokesman Liu Weimin said at a regular briefing today, that debates generated by the protests on Wall Street should be conducive to global economic growth. The state-run Global Times newspaper says in an editorial that the Chinese should “calmly observe the protest movement and the global situation.” The movement began a month ago Monday in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park with loosely organized protests against what demonstrators consider unbridled corporate greed.
