Hyundai Motor India sales drop 7.3% in September

The country’s second-largest car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today reported 7.3 percent decline in total sales at 53,558 units in September.

The company had sold 57,804 units in the corresponding month last year, HMIL said in a statement. In the domestic market, the company recorded sales of 30,851 units compared to 35,955 units in the year-ago period, down 14.2 percent.

Exports of the company grew by 3.9 percent to 22,707 units during the month under review from 21,849 units in the same period last year, the statement said. Commenting on the sales performance, HMIL Vice-President (National Sales) Rakesh Srivastava said: “We expect the suppressed demand would improve on account of festive purchases as the demand peaks during this period.” In September, in the A2 segment (Eon, Santro, i10 and i20), the company sold 46,414 units, while sales in the A3 segment (Accent and Verna) stood at 6,287 units.
