Barclays ropes in HSBC's Vivek Gupta as trade finance head

British banking major Barclays has appointed Vivek Gupta as the country head for its trade and working capital division. Gupta has been scalped by the bank from rival HSBC, where he was heading the business development team working out of Singapore, Barclays said in a statement issued on Thursday.

“Vivek coming on board underlines the importance we place on our India franchise,” Kai Fehr, the managing director for Trade Asia, said. Gupta will be responsible for building the trade business across all client segments including financial institutions and multi-national companies.
