BSP leader booked for using foul language against Mulayam

Lucknow: A case has been registered against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya, who is also Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh assembly, for allegedly using foul language against Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, police said. The case was registered by the Mainpuri police after district Samajwadi party president Khuman Singh Verma lodged a first information report (FIR) against Maurya and his daughter Sanghmitra at a local police station on Monday. Reuters[/caption] The FIR, which has been supported by a video CD, alleges that both the BSP leaders Sunday repeatedly used objectionable words against Mulayam Singh, who is also an MP from Mainpuri. The BSP leaders were in the city to announce their Lok Sabha candidate for the next general elections. Following the FIR, a case was slapped on the BSP leaders under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Verma said that using such objectionable language against the local MP, who was also a national leader, was a deliberate attempt to foment trouble and instigate riots. Senior police officials, confirming the FIR, refused to speak about the contents of the CD and said a probe has been ordered and details of the case have been sent to the state government in Lucknow.
