Bharti's Rajan Mittal joins Brookings Institution board

New Delhi: Rajan Mittal, the vice-chairman and managing director of Bharti Enterprises, has joined the board of renowned American think tank Brookings Institution. He has now become a member of the board of trustees of the Brookings Institution, a private non-profit entity focused on independent research and innovative policy solutions. He is the only Indian on the board. An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Mittal is actively involved in overseeing the activities of Bharti Group at the corporate level. He is a member of International Chambers of Commerce (India Chapter) and was earlier president of industry body Ficci. Bharti Enterprises is a leading business group with diverse interests in telecom, agri business, financial services, retail and manufacturing. “Mittal represents the best standards and values of the private sector in this increasingly globalised world. In addition to his acumen and energy as a businessman, he has demonstrated an admirable commitment to the public good and to philanthropy,” Brookings President Strobe Talbott said. He noted that Mittal’s vision, perspective, energy and leadership would be a great asset to Brookings. Mittal expressed confidence that innovative and practical recommendations, which are the hallmark of Brookings, would further strengthen international cooperation and promote social and economic welfare, positively impacting the global economy including India.
