BCCI does not need to comment on spot-fixing probe: Shukla

Allahabad: Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla today described the London court order holding two Pakistani cricketers guilty of spot-fixing as “a matter concerning the Cricket Boards of Pakistan and England which the BCCI has nothing to do with”. “I do not think that anybody associated with the BCCI needs to comment on the London court order indicting former Pakistani skipper Salman Butt and fast bowler Mohammad Asif. It is a matter concerning the cricket boards of Pakistan and England and the Indian cricket board has nothing to do with the matter,” Shukla told reporters here. Replying to a query, Shukla said, “what is wrong in cricket having become a money-spinner in our country? We must not forget that this scenario has enabled the BCCI to pay its players handsomely, be they of any level, and also give pension to retired cricketers”. PTI
