Ansari praises NCC, lauds emergency, humanitarian work

New Delhi: Vice-President Hamid Ansari today lauded National Cadet Corps (NCC) members for their emergency relief work and the humanitarian assistance rendered by them to distressed people in the aftermath of the devastating floods last year in Uttarakhand. “NCC has also undertaken laudable initiatives for socio-economic welfare of citizens on important issues like adult education and healthcare,” Ansari said while inaugurating the NCC Republic Day Camp, 2014.[caption id=“attachment_1327697” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Vice President Hamid Ansari addressing at the inauguration of NCC Republic Day Camp 2014, in New Delhi on 7 January  2014. Image courtesy PIB[/caption] NCC programmes for combating social ills such as gender discrimination, dowry, drug abuse and corruption and its efforts towards environmental conservation and protection are also commendable, the vice-president said. He complimented NCC for its efforts towards grooming the youth of the country and for its contribution to nation building. The vice-president urged NCC cadets to avail the best of NCC training and be more responsible and empowered citizens of the country. A total of 2,070 cadets, including 702 girl cadets, drawn from 17 NCC Directorates covering all the states and Union territories of the country are participating in the camp which will culminate with the prime minister’s rally on 28 January. The cadets attending the camp will be participating in a number of activities like cultural and national integration awareness programmes and institutional training competitions. PTI
