Kolkata: The National Insurance Company Ltd, which issued a Rs 55 crore fire and peril policy to the AMRI Hospital, today said it would begin investigations into the fire that caused the death of over 90 people on 9 December 2011. [caption id=“attachment_281555” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Screengrab from CNN IBN.”]  [/caption] “Just a few days ago, we were allowed to enter the premises and an investigation will take place for claims,” NIC chairman and managing director NSR Chandraprasad said here at an interaction with MCC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Chandraprasad said loss of life was not part of the risk cover. Post AMRI episode, the NIC had decided to make special investigations for cover of Rs 50 crore, down from Rs 100 crore practised earlier. Meanwhile, NIC said it was looking at a premium income of Rs 9,500 crore in the current fiscal from Rs 7,800 crore registered in 2011-12. PTI
