Americans oppose strike against Syria as Obama presses Congress: Poll

Washington: Amidst Obama Administration’s hectic preparations for military action against the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, a latest poll suggests Americans have little appetite for another war. Nearly six out of 10 Americans are opposed to the US launching missile strike against Syria, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll. Democrats and Republicans are equally opposed to war against Syria. Further, providing military aide to the opposition groups in Syria has even less support. Seventy per cent respondents say they oppose arming the rebels, while only 27 per cent support such an action. Last week, a NBC Poll had reported that 42 per cent of the Americans supported a military action. The Washington Post-ABC poll was conducted over phone between August 28-September 1. PTI
