AAI ponders ways to curb corruption in aviation services

New Delhi: Measures to strengthen regulations to curb corruption in delivery of aviation-related services came up for discussion at a meeting of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) here. The meeting, organised to mark the culmination of the Vigilance Awareness Week observed at all airports across the country, saw AAI chairman VP Agrawal highlighting steps to spread awareness about systemic improvements for delivery of corruption-free services, keeping in mind the variety of the airport body’s clientele including major foreign players.[caption id=“attachment_125527” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“On a clean drive. At the meeting, K D Tripathi, Secretary of Central Vigilance Commission, appreciated AAI’s work in the area of Corporate Governance. “In public procurements, we should always look for value for money and the transactions should be in a fair and transparent manner,” he said. Tripathi said institutions like CVC and provisions of the Right to Information were created to meet the requirements of transparency requirements to the satisfaction of the information seekers. Chief Vigilance Officer B Pradhan gave a detailed presentation about the proactive activities of AAI concerning vigilance and highlighted the functioning of the vigilance machinery in the government. Pradhan also emphasised the use of modern technology in achieving the goal of proactive vigilance across the organisation, the spokesperson said. PTI
