A judge in the Delhi High Court asked today why being arrested leads to so many people feeling unwell.

“Why everybody falls sick after he is taken into custody?” asked Justice V K Shali, while considering a request for bail by Bollywood producer Karim Morani, who has been arrested in connection with the 2G scam.

Morani’s lawyer said the producer is a heart patient and his health is deteriorating. Justice Shali will hear the case next on December 1, when Tihar Jail authorities will submit his medical records.

Morani was arrested in May for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum  scam masterminded by former telecom minster A Raja. 14 people are in jail including  Raja and Kanimozhi, the Rajya Sabha MP whose father heads the DMK.

Like the others,  Morani has been accused of criminal conspiracy by the CBI, which is investigating the case.  Morani allegedly helped route a Rs214-crore kickback to Mr Raja from a firm the former minister had obliged.

The trial in the telecom case begins on Friday.
