Troubles continue to mount for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Uttar Pradesh pacer Yash Dayal whose anticipatory bail plea was rejected on Wednesday by a special POCSO court in Jaipur in a case involving the alleged repeated rape of a minor girl.
Dayal has not played any competitive cricket since the 2025 IPL final and with the latest developments, fans of RCB want the franchise to release the left-arm pacer. Ahead of the 2026 IPL auction, the defending champions retained Dayal who played a key role in their maiden title win in 2025.
Following the bail rejection, fans have intensified calls on social media for RCB to drop the pacer .
Dayal’s bail plea rejected
Judge in the special POCSO court Alka Bansal ruled that evidence, including chats, photos, videos, call records, and hotel stays, did not suggest that Dayal was being falsely implicated. The court said that the evidence indicates the left-arm pacer’s possible involvement and thus his bail application was rejected. In fact, the court also denied pre-arrest protection to the accused at this stage.
Dayal was booked in this case in July 2025 where the complainant had accused the 27-year-old Uttar Pradesh bowler her with promises of advancing her cricket career, emotionally blackmailing her, and assaulting her over two-and-a-half years at hotels in Jaipur and Kanpur. The complainant says she was a minor at the time of the incident.
Complainant’s mobile, along with call records and hotel stay records, are being treated by the police as key evidence under POCSO provisions.
Dayal’s defence argued that the case had been filed to harass and extort a “respected cricketer.” It said that the meetings between Dayal and the girl were public and that the girl posed as an adult.
Dayal took 13 wickets in 15 matches last season and played a key part in RCB’s maiden IPL 2025 title win. RCB has remained silent on the development, even as fans continue to demand his exclusion.
