Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) put in a dominant performance to outclass Delhi Capitals (DC) and secure victory in the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Sunday. RCB spinners were supreme as they orchestrated a spectacular collapse to restrict DC to a mere 113 runs. During the run chase, RCB were composed and led by Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry they earned a resounding eight-wicket victory.
Smriti took charge of the chase and along with an aggressive Sophie Devine, added 49 runs for the first wicket. Despite the efforts of Shikha Pandey’s economical spell and the dismissal of Devine, DC never really had enough runs to put RCB under any strife. Bangalore completed the chase in the last over to secure a memorable win.
Ellyse Perry takes home Orange Cap
For her superb tournament, RCB’s Ellyse Perry bagged the Orange Cap. The star all-rounder piled up 347 runs in nine matches with an impressive average of 69.40. She received a prize money of Rs 5 lakh.
Purple Cap
Shreyanka Patil, who displayed exceptional bowling and picked up four wickets conceding just 12 runs in the final, won the Purple Cap. Patil claimed a total of 13 wickets throughout the season and received Rs 5 lakh as prize money.
