The World Championship of Legends (WCL) is back, and cricket fans are excited to watch some of the biggest names from the past in action. The most-awaited match of the tournament, India vs Pakistan, will take place on July 20 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Yuvraj Singh will lead the India Champions team, while Shahid Afridi will captain Pakistan Champions. Both were captains of their respective teams in the previous edition as well. India are the defending champions as they won the trophy last year after beating Pakistan in the final.
In that summit finale, Pakistan batted first and scored 156/6. Anureet Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India with 3 wickets for 36 runs. While chasing, India lost early wickets but Robin Uthappa’s quick 50 off 30 balls and Yusuf Pathan’s 30 off 16 balls helped them chase the target with five balls and five wickets remaining.
However, Pakistan had beaten India in the league stage of the same tournament last year. They posted a massive 243/4 in 20 overs and then bowled out India for 175, winning by 68 runs.
“I’m looking forward to represent our nation at the World Championship of Legends again. The memories of our victory in the first edition of the tournament, alongside my teammates will always remain close to my heart,” Yuvraj Singh said.
The tournament is backed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It will also feature top retired cricketers from countries like Australia, England, West Indies, and South Africa.
