Kohli opens up on his bond with Rohit ahead of MI vs RCB clash: 'Very grateful and happy for all the memories'

Ahead of the mega Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli opened up on his bond with Rohit Sharma. Both stalwarts of the Indian cricket team had captained their respective IPL franchises for a long time and have now passed on the batons to future generations.

They, however, continue to be the leading batting stars of their teams and clash against each other on Monday (7 April) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Kohli speaks on his friendship with Rohit

Ahead of the MI vs RCB mouth-watering clash, RCB uploaded a video of Kohli talking about his camaraderie and friendship with Rohit, who has been his long-time teammate at the Indian cricket team.

“The Ro-Ko Bond! Virat Kohli talks about his equation with Rohit Sharma, and how they’ve bonded over the years and created some wonderful memories! We’re just a day away from seeing them go up against each other, and we wish them well," the video was captioned by RCB.

Here’s what Kohli said about Rohit:

“It’s a very natural thing to take place when you play with someone for so long. You share insight, learn from each other, and grow in your careers at the same time. And you share all the queries. So there’s a lot of back and forth that happens.

“Also the fact that we worked very closely in terms of for the leadership for the team, so there were always ideas discussed and more or less we would end up being on the same page in iterms what the gut feels of that particular game demands… There’s a trust factor that builds — you can rely on each other to do the job for the team.”

“We have definitely enjoyed our time playing together for so long. Very grateful and happy for all the memories, all the moments we’ve shared and continue to do so.”

Both Kohli and Rohit have been regular features in the Indian cricket team since 2008. They won the T20 World Cup last year before retiring from the format.
