India A retained their winning combination while Pakistan A made two changes to their lineup for their Asia Cup Rising Stars Group B clash in Doha, Qatar on Sunday. While the Jitesh Sharma-led Men in Blue stuck to the XI that had thrashed United Arab Emirates by 148 runs in their campaign-opening game on Friday, the Pakistanis brought in left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and seamer Shahid Aziz in place of off-spinner Mubasir Khan and seamer Mohammad Salman Mirza.

Both India A and Pakistan A had begun their campaigns on a winning note in Group B of the continental event, with the Irfan Khan-led Pakistanis defeating hosts Oman by 40 runs in the opening game of the tournament on Friday, right before the Indians’ thrashing of UAE.

Rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi had made headlines for his blistering 144 off just 42 deliveries, bringing up his century in just 32 deliveries that made him the joint-third-fastest Indian to the milestone in men’s T20s.

Another fiery start for Suryavanshi

And in Sunday’s blockbuster meeting at Doha’s West End Park International Cricket Stadium, the Rajasthan Royals star appeared to have carried on from where he left off against UAE two days ago, smashing 25 off 17 balls to help the Jitesh Sharma-led Men in Blue race to 50/1 at the end of the powerplay.

While Group B comprises India A, Pakistan A, UAE and hosts Oman, Group A includes Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Hong Kong.

Afghanistan A had won the previous edition of the tournament – which was known as the Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup – last year after defeating Sri Lanka A in the final, beating the Tilak Varma-led India A team in the semi-finals.
