The 2024 Under-19 Men’s World Cup is set to start on January 19 in South Africa. The opening match will be between USA and Ireland, while the second game will be played between South Africa and West Indies. The tournament will be played across different cities including Potchefstroom, Bloemfontein, Benoni, Kimberley and East London. The marquee event will showcase a bunch of players with cricket in their blood. Players who have their relatives who have played the game at the highest level. From Mohammad Nabi’s son to Naseem Shah’s brother, here are some of those young talents. India: Musheer Khan Musheer Khan, brother of Sarfaraz Khan, is one of the promising players to watch out for at the U-19 World Cup this year. He is a talented all-rounder and many consider him to have a better power game than his elder brother. Afghanistan: Hassan Eisakhil, Usman Khan Shinwari, Jamshid Zadran Hassan Eisakhil, is the son of former Afghanistan captain and the most capped cricketer of the country Mohammad Nabi. Rashid Khan’s nephew, Usman Khan Shinwari too is part of the Afghanistan U-19 side. Ibrahim Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s cousin, Jamshid Zadran is also part of the Afghanistan U-19 World Cup squad. England: Luc Benkenstein, Haydon Mustard, Jaydn Denly, Farhan Ahmed Luc Benkenstein is son of former South Africa player Dale Benkenstein and is England U-19 vice-captain. Haydon Mustard, son of Phil Mustard, has followed his father’s wicketkeeping footsteps and will don the gloves. Dale played 23 ODIs for the Proteas, while Phil featured in 12 international matches for England. Jaydn Denly is England’s opening batter, much like his uncle Joe, who featured in as many as 44 games for England. Farhan Ahmed, a 15-year-old offspinner, is the brother of Rehan Ahmed, who is part of England’s Test squad in India. Bangladesh: Jishan Alam Jishan Alam, son of former Bangladesh batter Jahangir Alam, will open the innings for Bangladesh U-19 side. Jahangir played three ODIs for the Bangla tigers. West Indies: Devonie Joseph Devonie Joseph, West Indies U-19 wicketkeeper, is the nephew of former batter Devon Smith. Devon played 96 internationals between 2003 and 2018 for West Indies. New Zealand: Tom Jones, Matt Rowe Tom Jones, grandson of Jeremy Coney, is New Zealand’s vice-captain and will also open the innings. Jeremy played 55 Tests and 88 ODIs for the Kiwis. Fast bowler Matt Rowe has taken up cricket following the footsteps of his cousin, Hannah Rowe, who has played 52 ODI and 41 T20Is for New Zealand. He will open the bowling for New Zealand.
