There’s trouble brewing at the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as co-owner Preity Zinta has filed a legal case against her fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia in a Chandigarh court. The legal case was filed to challenge the legality of an Extraordinary General Meeting held on 21 April.
Bollywood star Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia are directors at KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, which owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise PBKS. Zinta has said that the EGM that was held on 21 April did not follow proper procedures under the Companies Act, 2013 and other secretarial rules, reported news agency IANS.

The actress and businesswoman has claimed that she had objected to the meeting on 10 April through an email but the message was ignored, alleging that Burman conducted the meeting with support from Wadia.
PBKS owners engage in legal fight
Although Preity Zinta and fellow director Karan Paul were present at the meeting, she has petitioned the court to declare it invalid. A key issue raised is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a director—an action both Zinta and Paul opposed.
In her suit, Zinta has also sought an order restraining Khanna from functioning as a director and preventing the company from implementing any decisions made during that meeting.
Additionally, she has requested the court to bar the company from holding further board or general meetings unless both she and Karan Paul are present and Muneesh Khanna is excluded, until the case is resolved.
Meanwhile, PBKS are enjoying a strong IPL 2025 season, having already qualified for the playoffs under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. This is the first time Punjab have reached the playoffs since 2014.
