England seamer Tom Curran was among the overseas cricketers participating in the Pakistan Super League who had been escorted to the United Arab Emirates departing for their respective home countries after the season was suspended due to a conflict between India and Pakistan .
And while describing an atmosphere of panic that had gripped PSL’s foreign contingent, Lahore Qalandars’ Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossain revealed Curran was “crying like a little child” after hearing that the airport was closed.
Curran clarifies “crying comment”
Curran broke his silence on the viral comment for the first time on Sunday, stating that he was glad to see peace prevailing between the two South Asian nuclear powers while “promising” that he did not cry like Qalandars teammate Rishad claimed.
“I’m glad to see things resuming, and I pray for continued peace between two very special countries.
“Btw promise, I didn’t cry; was ready,” Curran wrote in a ‘Story’ on Instagram.
Rishad too has since apologised for his comment regarding Curran and New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell – who was quoted as saying that he would “never return to Pakistan again”.
“I’m aware that a recent comment I made has caused confusion and has unfortunately been misrepresented in the media, creating a false perception. It lacked full context and unintentionally overstated the emotions involved.
“I sincerely regret any misunderstanding it may have caused. I’ve offered an unconditional apology to Daryl Mitchell and Tom Curran,” Rishad said recently.
Both the PSL and the Indian Premier League had been put on a week-long suspension due to the recent military standoff between India and Pakistan, which began with the Indian armed forces targeting several terror camps inside Pakistan in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last month.
