Team India fought hard but could not evade defeat on Day 5 at Lord’s. Ravindra Jadeja’s gritty knock that took India closer to the 193-run target tested the patience of England but the resistance finally ceased as he ran out of partners. Consequently, India lost the third Test by 22 runs. England on the other hand, regained a crucial lead in the series.

Michael Vaughan takes a cheeky dig at Team India
The result at Lord’s has brought former England captain Michael Vaughan to the forefront once again. Vaughan, who is a longtime critic of Team India, did not let the golden opportunity to take a swipe at the team slip. Presenting his satire, Vaughan joked that Indian players fancied the food here at Lord’s and wanted to get enough of it, thus did not spend much time in the middle, rather got dismissed cheaply.
“They obviously like the food here. The thing about the lunches is that they can have them if they’re obviously dismissed. That’s just (loss of) concentration. You’ve played enough cricket to understand that. The more you think about batting differently towards the end of a session, the more you’re probably going to get out. You’ve just got to naturally play. Just naturally play." Vaughan said While speaking with Dinesh Karthik on Cricbuzz.
On a serious note, the ex-England skipper stated that India’s loss highlights the inexperience of the side.
“That’s just a mentality thing that this team has to get better at. I guess the inexperience of the group; They’re an inexperienced group.”
It was the collapse that led to India’s eventual debacle in both first and third Test, it is a cause of concern for India captain Shubman Gill, according to Vaughan.
“Gill will be slightly concerned about that collapse, the first innings collapse down the back end, the little collapse last night and then another three quick wickets this morning. You don’t win many Test matches when you lose so many wickets in clusters. That’s something that India can’t afford in the last two games,” the former England captain added.
